My latest customer gave me a Lenovo SL500 as my work PC. I installed Ubuntu 8.10 on it right away. Everything is working great but one detail bugs me: adjusting lightness.
When the laptop starts, it always goes to a very low light level. I had to do a "echo -n 100 > /proc/acpi/video/VGA/LCDD/brightness" to change it. Finally I found this wonderful page telling me exactly what to do to make it work:

The page itself was intended to make the hotkey working on SL500. But it helps also to save the lightness level. So I dont have to manually set the lightness each time I reboot the PC.
