Flash stops working on firefox after I upgraded Ubuntu from 8.10 to 9.04.
The following link fixes my problem:

In short:
- remove swfdec-mozilla
- remove gnash-common (including gnash gnash-common mozilla-plugin-gnash)
- install adobe-flashplugin
Restart firefox.
